Dalfsen is a small town on the Overijssel Vecht River with a rich history. Its origins lie in the distant past. The name Dalfsen is officially mentioned for the first time in the year 1231 and the town has a population of around 26,000.
The town centre is very charming with its greenery, many benches, atmospheric lighting and new paving giving the narrow streets a pleasant appearance. You can see a number of beautiful monumental and restored buildings around the Dutch Reformed Church and behind the town centre there is an old restored windmill, which is still in operation and can be visited.
Dalfsen has a wealth of castles and manor houses, such as Rechteren Castle, Huize den Berg and Huize de Mataram. More than 2,000 ha. of estates have been opened up as a walking area. Your walking or cycling route can begin from the estate!
